Dating from 1899, this neo-Romanesque pump house in the rapidly rejuvenating industrial area of Westhafen, on the Main 1.2km southwest of the Hauptbahnhof, is now a spectacular restaurant serving superior German cuisine. The soaring interior has exposed-brick walls, metal girders, crank shafts and pulleys, a monumental chandelier and mezzanine seating. Outside there's an ephemeral umbrella-shaded terrace and beach with Tahiti-imported sand.
