One for special occasions – or, heck, any occasion – this refined restaurant atop the Schlossberg has panoramic windows affording compelling surround views of Freiburg's spire-studded cityscape. The food is pretty impressive, with the chef keeping things regional in dishes such as Badisches Rahmtöpfle (pork medallions with mushrooms and homemade Spätzle – egg-based noodles). There's plenty to appeal to vegetarians and vegans, too.
The terrace is ideal for al fresco dining in summer.
