Back in the 1990s, Sascha Waltz transformed the Sophiensaele into Berlin’s number-one spot for experimental and avant-garde dance. Dance is still big here, but the program now extends to German-speaking independent contemporary theatre, music and performance art, often presented by young artists exploring unconventional concepts and new forms of expression.
It's a lovely brick building that once housed the craftsmen association and was used for assemblies, training and banquets.
