Pension Bonjouir

Tahiti

Bonjouir is a nature-lover’s paradise – it’s surrounded by walks to waterfalls, swimming holes and caves and fronted by the clear lagoon – but it’s far from being perfect. Some travellers have complained of being charged for ‘extras’ they thought were free, so be clear with your hosts what the rates cover. Digs are in rooms or bungalows; they’re quite basic but have Tahitian flair. You’ll need to take the shuttle boat from the dock at PK17 in Teahupoo (2200 CFP return). Bring mosquito repellent even though all the beds have nets. Half board is 5000 CFP and a few bungalows have their own kitchens. There’s a young, fun and convivial vibe. Various activities can be organised. Cash only.
