This mellow B&B is just a 10-minute drive from Uturoa, but feels a million miles away. In the owner’s waterfront home, it has three guest rooms in total – two with shared bathrooms, and one with private bathroom and lagoon views. They are all decorated with handmade bedspreads and plenty of wood. Excellent French-Polynesian dinners (3400 CFP) are served family-style.

There’s not really a beach, but you can paddle free kayaks out to a scenic sandbar offshore or to Motu Miri Miri. The owners also organise reputable lagoon tours aboard a monohull and you can borrow the free bicycles to get to and from Uturoa. Airport transfers are free. Cash only.
