Cabalus

Yonne

Atmospheric Cabalus offers four spacious rooms with sturdy beams, ancient tiles and stone walls in a 12th-century building right next to the cathedral. Decoration is sparse, reception can be rather dour, and cheaper rooms have shared toilets, but it's hard to beat for location, price and quirky rustic charm. Organic breakfasts (€10) are served at the cafe downstairs.
