The Red House was built from scarlet brick in 1830 for a gentleman-about-town on the edge of old Uzès. Despite its vintage trappings (balconies, stone staircase), the house has been beautifully modernised, with wooden floors, walk-in showers and swish furniture. The owners also run the adjoining La Maison des Marronniers (www.maison-des-marronniers-uzes.com), which features four stylish rooms.
Shutters open out to the back-garden pool; on a clear day you can see Mont Ventoux.
