St-Valery-sur-Somme's Église St-Martin was built from shingle and flint, giving it a chequerboard appearance, guarded by fantastical gargoyles. Construction started in 1488 and the church was consecrated in 1500, but wasn't completed until 1559. Inside are four models of 17th-century war ships. The stained-glass windows date from the 19th century.
