Hôtel des Carmes

Rouen

This sweet little hotel, built in 1850, offers 12 smallish but pleasant rooms that get cheaper the higher you climb (there’s no lift), while two spacious suites are in the annexe. The oil paintings are by the owner’s wife, who also designed the decor. The slightly pricier rooms face place des Carmes at the front.
