Camping Domaine de la Grande Cascade

Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne

This is a stunning spot to pitch a tent, just 15 minutes' walk from a 30m waterfall, with marvellous views of the mountains. At 1250m elevation, this campground is prone to chilly conditions but you can always warm up in the jacuzzi (€2). Reach the campground by taking D36 south out of Le Mont-Dore for 3km. There's wi-fi at reception.

Chalet accommodation is available from mid-April. Prices vary enormously by season, but you can expect around €500 for a week's stay in high season/midsummer.
