Prehistoric Lodge

Top choice in Lyon & the Rhône Valley

By far the most unusual sleeping option in the Gorges de l'Ardèche, this good find offers eight luxury safari tents (called 'lodges') and four modern, snazzily decorated rooms with private terraces. Best of all, it's in a verdant property right on the river's edge, with direct access to a swimming area and superlative gorge views.

Spacious and well designed, the tents are comfortable and appealing, although the open bathrooms might not be to everyone's taste. No wi-fi.
