St-Michel's legendary bakery has been in the biz for over a century. House specialities include moist bread loaves studded with dried fruit, escargots (snail-shaped pastries specked with red fruit or chocolate and pistachio nuts) and Jésuites (custard-filled pastry iced with meringue and flaked almonds), and its made-to-order baguette sandwiches (pick three of dozens of fillings) ensure a lunchtime queue outside the door.
