A great coffee-and-petrol stop between eastern and western Lapland, 105km from Inari on the road to Kittilä, this curious cafe sits in the hamlet of Pokka, which is proud to be Finland's coldest place, having registered a chilly -51.5ºC (-60.7ºF)in 1999. The interior features stuffed birds, tropical plants, great doughnuts and a charismatic owner who isn't happy until the mercury hits -30ºC (-22ºF).
It has simple cabins (€40 to €80) and camping (€10; June to August only), and can organise winter excursions.
