Smoked salmon and whitefish – served in salads or on platters – is the speciality of this stocked salmon-fishing pond and smokery. If you rent a rod (€5) and catch your own, they will smoke it (€5) and serve it whole (€18 per kilo), with potato salad and other sides (€9 per person). The smoking takes about an hour.
In case you're wondering, sitting at a pond-side picnic table, sipping a beer and feasting on warm smoked salmon that you caught yourself isn't a bad way to spend an afternoon. Lohilaakso is almost 3km north of the main roundabout in Hiekkasärkät.
