In Rovaniemi's former 1950s town hall, with original fixtures including wood panelling, a vintage lift and wrought-iron balustrades, Lapland's top hotel has handcrafted artworks adorning individually designed rooms (some with private saunas). Loft rooms have skylights for aurora-borealis views; the two apartments sleep four, with separate living rooms. Buffet breakfasts are designed by Finnish-American TV chef Sara La Fountain.
Breakfast highlights include superfood-powered energy shots, smoothies, traditional Finnish sweets and cakes, fresh local berries, homemade jams and locally smoked salmon, plus cooked-to-order bacon and eggs and pancakes.
Adorable toy polar bears in each guest room are for sale; proceeds go to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
