Endearingly old-fashioned, this hotel opened in the 1930s in an excellent location between the harbour and Olavinlinna. Common areas, including the grand breakfast room, retain many original fittings, and there's a wonderful lakeside terrace. The 21 rooms are elegant, although beds are narrow and bathrooms small; the best have balconies with lake views. Service has a pronounced Fawlty Towers–esque flavour.
