Sea Hotel Mäntyniemi

Top choice in Turku & Finland's South Coast

A little piece of Finnish paradise, this family-run haven sits on a secluded forested island (linked by bridges) between Loviisa (35km) and Kotka (32km). The best of the 28 rooms have balconies overlooking the islet-strewn sea. Fantastic facilities include a traditional smoke sauna, an excellent restaurant, and free use of boats, bikes and fishing gear. You won't want to leave.

That might be a good thing, as the place is very remote, with no facilities in the surrounding area. From E18 in Siltakylä, take Rte 170 to Purolantie and cross the bridge to the island of Munapirtti. After 2.5km, turn south onto Mäntyniementie. The Sea Hotel was closed for renovations at the time of research but expected to reopen in 2018.
