Barefoot Manta Island

Yasawa Group

This refurbished and rebranded resort hasn't let its (continuing) upgrade go to its head: though magnificent, Barefoot Manta is decidedly low-key. Most guests are here to take part in underwater activities; as the name implies, this is a top spot for goggling at manta rays, with swim safaris running between May and October. Custom dive packages, kayaking, hikes and village visits are also available.

Comfortable, no-frills dorms and private tented bures are dotted between the island's Sunrise and Sunset beaches; the latter is also home to a simple but spectacular restaurant/bar. Many guests divide their holiday between here and sister resort, Barefoot Kuata.
