It is hard to believe that the tranquil, rainforest-fringed lake that provides such a lush backdrop here was once a rock quarry. The three dormitories, communal kitchen, and double and twin rooms with shared bathrooms are clean and comfortable. There are also five bures set among the trees and these offer excellent value with plump beds and private decks. The lakeside bar/restaurant (mains $15 to $35) is a gorgeous place to hang out.
It's 11km from Suva centre – buses cost $2 and take 30 minutes and will drop you at the gate. A taxi costs $15.
