Situated about 25km north of Navua town, this Fijian-run lodge offers travellers a genuine river-village experience. Accommodation is in three basic buildings surrounded by stunning green scenery. You can trek into the highlands or just watch the locals pass by on their bilibilis (bamboo rafts). In the evenings, villagers will often join you for a kava session.
The food is pretty simple, and you might want to take extra for self-catering or just snacking. The lodge is a two-hour boat ride from Navua, passing more than a dozen waterfalls – the perfect way to ease yourself into a visit. Call the lodge well in advance and they’ll arrange a boat transfer for you.
