Bounty Island Resort

Mamanuca Group

This friendly, low-key resort is an excellent choice for backpackers and families on a budget. The air-conditioned 20- and 14-bed dorms have comfy, oversized bunks, though island bures are a good value step-up if you're after privacy. The beachfront bures, a short, sandy hike from the bar/restaurant, have verandahs and hammocks. Bonus points for hot showers, 24-hour electricity and potable water.

The compulsory meal plan ($85) is fantastic value, with delicious three-course dinners and – a rarity – gigantic cooked breakfasts.
