Star Inn the Harbour

Whitby

Yorkshire food hero Andrew Pern, of Michelin-starred Star Inn fame, gutted the former tourist office to create this spin-off restaurant on the harbour front in his home town of Whitby. It’s no surprise that the theme is nautical and the menu leans heavily on its fishy environs, though there are also playful dishes such as Yorkshire pudding and foie gras.

Despite its location, water views from the dining area are underwhelming. The adjoining posh ice-cream parlour is a real treat, serving up fanciful toppings and cones to complement classic British flavours like lemon curd, parma violet and Yorkshire parkin.
