Behind an unassuming grey door lies the unexpected pleasure of this Georgian gem crammed with period details; even better is the multi-award-winning garden at the back (open to the public), which offers superb views over the River Swale and the Cleveland Hills. The only downside (considering the price) is that some rooms have bathrooms across the hall. If possible, book the Garden Suite.
