Britain's largest covered market sells fresh meat, fish, and fruit and vegetables, as well as household goods, and now boasts a popular new street-food hall. The best section is at the top near Vicar Lane, where the original Victorian stalls are still inhabited by traders – this was where UK retailing giant Marks & Spencer started out in 1884.
