Lloyd's Kitchen

Exeter

Squeezed in among the city-centre chains is this independent diner run by energetic owner Lloyd. With its sliding-glass frontage, bare bulbs, tiles and banquettes, it's a lovely space, and food-wise, it's classic and comforting: frittatas, open sandwiches, burgers, salads and 'British classics' by day; by night, corn-fed chicken, confit duck and steaks (Fridays and Saturdays only). Breakfasts are copious.
