This is the place to really lose yourself: a charming farmhouse nestled among the woods near Tarr Steps, 7 miles from Dulverton. The nine contemporary bedrooms are spacious and luxurious, with spoil-yourself extras such as organic bath goodies and homemade biscuits. The farm is also renowned for its food.

All-comers are welcome: walkers and families arrive for cream teas (served from 11am to 5pm) and hearty lunches, while after-dark diners sample more formal country fare, such as crab rarebit and braised lamb (mains £15 to £24). Meals are served 11am to 2.30pm and 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
