Muddy Beach

South Cornwall

This riverside cafe has occupied the space that belonged to Penryn's beloved hang-out, Miss Peapod's. It's a very different proposition, sleek and modern rather than homely and cosy, so it's proved a controversial change. Nevertheless, the location is perfect for lunch, and its weekend 'beach boards' are tempting – choose from meat, seafood and veggie varieties.

It's part of the Jubilee Wharf development, which is also home to a seamstress, a florist, a bike shop and a yoga school – look out for the rooftop windmills as you drive towards Falmouth.
