Hoppers

The West End

All bare brick and spice-box tones, this snug Sri Lankan is the real deal: serving bowl-shaped hoppers (fermented-rice pancakes) alongside karis (curries) of black pork, aubergine and other star ingredients, paneer (fresh cheese) with chilli and butter and the wonderful sambols (chutneys) that adorn the island's cuisine. Bookings are taken only for larger groups; at peak times, leave your number.

The £19.50 lunch menu includes a starter, hopper, kari and sambol.
