Brasserie Zédel

The West End

This restaurant in the renovated art-deco ballroom of a former hotel may be the most French brasserie north of Calais. Favourites include choucroute alsacienne (sauerkraut with sausages and charcuterie) and steak haché (chopped steak) with pepper sauce and frites. Set menus (£11/14 for two/three courses) and plats du jour such as rabbit with mustard offer value and variety.

The attached Bar Américain is a classic art-deco spot for a pre-dinner cocktail (from £10).
