The central seating area of Boxpark in Croydon

Boxpark

London

Hoping to replicate the success of its Shoreditch counterpart, Boxpark Croydon provides a much-needed cultural hub just a stone’s throw from East Croydon Station. Miniature restaurants, bars and shops are stacked in old shipping containers around a central seating area, which hosts events like poetry readings and rap concerts.

Come weekends, the place is jammed with young and old alike: it is a sign of times to come for what has historically been one of the more neglected London boroughs (though it's home to the BRIT School, alma mater of Adele, Amy Winehouse and Jessie J). A vast Westfield shopping mall is due to open in Croydon 2021.
