The bedrooms in this lovely white Victorian house in Montpellier are grander than those in the guesthouse beside the pretty back courtyard, but all are comfortable and well equipped. Although family rooms sleep four guests, it doesn’t accept kids aged under four. Decor is bright and fresh, with local artwork, and the homemade breakfasts wonderful. Excellent value.

The friendly young hosts can provide tips on Cheltenham and the Cotswolds, and rates include access to the gym at nearby Cheltenham Ladies College.
