Funduk Al Shams

Southern Nile Valley

Funduk Al Shams is a delightful ecolodge/guesthouse run by an Austrian-Egyptian team. It's constructed from mud-brick and decorated in the local style, with blue-painted rooms set around a shady garden planted with fruit trees. In the winter it is often taken by archaeologists working at Kom Al Ahmar, but this is a tranquil place to spend a few days in the Egyptian countryside.
