Windsor Palace Hotel

Alexandria

This bejewelled Edwardian gem has been keeping a watchful eye on the Med since 1907. It's undergone a much-needed nip and tuck since then, but thankfully the wonderful old elevators and grand lobby were retained, and rooms still boast an old-world, green-and-gold pizazz that wouldn’t be out of place on the Orient Express. Bag a seafront room if you can.
