Grand Hotel

Cairo

Retro-tastic. The hundred or so rooms come crammed with as much stripey brown furniture – to match the fetching brown-striped curtains and bedspreads – as possible in this grand old dame, which still clings on to a few art-deco flourishes. Shiny white-tiled bathrooms are a wonderful modern touch and staff are very sweet. Entry is around the back in a tiny plaza.
