The owners welcome you on board at this clifftop inn, half whitewashed villa, half imaginary ship. The brainchild of an ex-captain, the place is filled with boaty memorabilia – from the full-sized mast, complete with crow's nest, and scattered life-preservers, anchors and navigation lights, to an original steel ship door leading into the restaurant's kitchen.
All-wood rooms have jaw-dropping sea views, and clever touches include side lamps that look like lighthouses, with lampshades made of nautical maps. One special room is actually hidden in a replica lighthouse, which towers over the swimming pool and pacific ocean. This brilliantly bizarre place has to be seen to be believed – at the very least it’s worth stopping for a peek around and a spot of lunch or a drink. From the restaurant's balcony it’s possible to see migrating whales from June to September.
