El Morro Restaurant

South Coast

Look for this truly delicious eatery with no name on the 2nd floor (the 1st floor is a different restaurant) of the orange and white house at El Morro's pier. It's nothing to look at, just a handful of wooden tables and plastic chairs, but it serves the best crab soup you'll ever eat. When it's gone for the day, it's gone.

Get there early. There's no formal menu, but the lunch plates include a soup, main and drink. Other dishes include shrimp or seafood soup, fish in plantain sauce with rice and salad, ceviche, garlic breaded shrimp, and more. Fishermen bring in their daily crab catches from the pier, and this is the first place they sell to, meaning they're as fresh as they can be. You'll probably be telling your friends about this place for years to come.
