On a 923m ridge about 30 minutes northeast of Santiago, Camp David offers sweeping vistas over the city and valley below. The extremely large rooms, with high-end boutique-style features such as marble sinks and porcelain-tile floors, have private balconies. There's also a top-notch restaurant.
Ask for room 2203 for fantastic city views and room 2205 for comparable mountain ones. The property was founded by an admirer of Rafael Trujillo, which explains why the former dictator's 1956 Cadillac is displayed in front of the central office. As the hotel's several kilometers off the main road, you’ll need a car to get here, or take a taxi (RD$500).
