José, the friendly French chef-owner with a Spanish name – who comes from a family of nine, five of whom are chefs – has been running this intimate French-Caribbean spot since 1987. It’s a small and simple nightly chalkboard menu of meat and seafood grills, served up in a soothing, baby-blue atmosphere fit for the Caribbean. Easily Samaná's best.
Expect a fresh fish or two (grilled or in sauce), a chicken and/or mixed-grill option and a couple of appetizers and desserts (a fresh ceviche here, a chocolate mousse there, a green salad doused in perfect vinaigrette…).
