This romantic five-star place has a lot going for it, including its ‘private’ beach on Cayo Levantado's idyllic sands. The 268-room hotel sits on extra-lush grounds and offers classic luxury á la the Ritz-Carlton (ie slightly stuffy). However, the excellent rooms, with hardwood floors and some with patio ocean views and vaulted ceilings, suffer from stuffiness less than the lobby.
There are two delightful pools, the best of which is accessed via an outdoor elevator, and four restaurants. Room service is available (unlike at its sister property in town). The downside is that it's on an island and you'll need to take a boat (provided by the hotel) to get there… Well, that’s the upside, too. Cheaper rates are available when booked with tour packages.
