The Dominican chef at this sophisticated French bistro deserves a few Michelin stars for his steak au poivre (pepper steak; RD$550), one of the most perfect meals in the entire DR – you’ll be genuflecting at his kitchen’s door after it graces your lips.
The menu continues with lovely seafood, including red snapper in garlic and parsley (RD$580), spicy Creole calamari (RD$430) and lobster with tarragon-butter sauce (RD$580). Like most spots along this gourmet promenade, the sea nearly steals back its wares every time a wave comes crashing in. But the best part of all might just be eating this for well under US$15 – a tall order anywhere in the world. Visa only.
