Hotel Fior di Loto

Top choice in Punta Cana & the Southeast

This idiosyncratic place about 500m west of Juan Dolio's main intersection is for the traveler looking to mellow out in a backpacker-style hotel. That’s not to say the rooms aren’t comfortable: this little ashram in the Caribbean is worn with character and has clean, tiled floors, high-power fans, tepid water and international cable TV. Rooms vary greatly, so take a look before committing.

There’s meditation, yoga classes and massages (average at best, but relaxing for the price) and some proceeds from the hotel go to supporting a girl’s foundation in India, where the good-hearted Italian owner, Mara, spends half the year.
