Hotel Don Carlos

Punta Cana & the Southeast

Only a block west of the Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia, Don Carlos is a maze of rooms. It’s friendly and professional for the most part, but deserving of only a night when passing through. Ask to stay in the annex, whose rooms are modern and larger; rooms in the older building are cramped and aged.

Conveniences include an attached restaurant (mains RD$225 to RD$700; open for breakfast, lunch and dinner) and a breezy patio bar. Spigot showers with low water pressure can be an issue.
