Painted bright yellow with Spanish tile roofs, this small gated complex in a residential neighborhood is Bayahibe's best bang for the buck, despite some irritating and unorthodox reservation policies (photocopies of credit cards required and such). The Italian-owned villas all come with patios and stone flooring, while the air-con rooms have kitchens and living-room spaces.
Room 5 is a steal for US$50, featuring top-floor views and a wraparound terrace. The hotel's residential location might equal a more quiet stay. Breakfast costs extra but there's free coffee, tea and a fruit plate. And the restaurant is only open in the high season.
