Meaning 'barley' in old Norse, oak-lined Barr offers polished, produce-driven takes on old North Sea traditions. The small plates are a little hit and miss, with standouts including sourdough pancakes with caviar. You'll need about four small plates per person; a better-value option is to savour the pancakes and fill up on the fantastic schnitzel or frikadeller (Danish meatballs).
The selection of craft beers is outstanding, as are the attentive, well-trained staff. The restaurant is a joint venture between renowned New Nordic chefs René Redzepi and Thorsten Schmidt. Redzepi's involvement seems apt given that the space was the former home of his ground-breaking restaurant Noma. The kitchen closes at 9.30pm; book ahead.
