Christiansø Gæstgiveri

Bornholm

Built in 1703 as the naval commander’s residence, this is the island’s only inn, with six simple (pricey) rooms with bathroom. There's a traditional Danish restaurant open for lunch and dinner daily, with a sunny, view-blessed terrace that's popular for evening drinks. Most of the rooms come with harbour views.

If you visit for lunch (84kr to 105kr), your best bet for local flavour is the sildeplatte, comprising three types of marinated herring made by Ruths Kryddersild, across the footbridge in Frederiksø.
