Located on a quiet side street, the 'Green Garland' is a surprisingly rustic retreat right in the heart of the city. The bedrooms vary in size – some cramped and some spacious – but all are spotlessly clean and simply but appealingly decorated, with exposed medieval roof beams in the attic rooms. The English-speaking owner is unfailingly polite and helpful.
Set in a restored 14th-century building, the pension takes its name from the house sign above the door, and is only a few minutes’ stroll from Old Town Square.
