National Theatre

Top choice in Prague

The much-loved National Theatre provides a stage for traditional opera, drama and ballet by the likes of Smetana, Shakespeare and Tchaikovsky (the Nutcracker is hopelessly sold out before Christmas), sharing the programme alongside works by modern composers and playwrights. The box offices are in the Nový síň building next door, in the Kolowrat Palace (opposite the Estates Theatre) and at the State Opera.

A performance here is a quintessentially Czech experience. Smart casual attire, at a minimum, is required.
