Meliá Internacional

Varadero’s erstwhile art deco hotel, the Continental was regrettably knocked down a couple of years ago to make way for this high-rise giant. Granted, it’s a Meliá and suitably luxurious, but it somehow lacks the intimacy and architectural panache of its predecessor. A replacement cabaret venue (Varadero’s wannabe ‘Tropicana’) is being built on the campus and was due to open in 2020.
