The turreted Pullman still stands defiantly in Varadero town, competing, not altogether successfully, with the surrounding casas particulares (rooms in private homes). The eclectic castle-like building is certainly interesting, but the battered facilities inside are in big need of a radical rethink. The main (only) lure – you can usually get a room here at short notice.
