Down by the docks lies one of only two brewpubs in Havana, which makes and serves three Austrian-style beers in an old lumber and tobacco warehouse. Craft-beer aficionados, beware: sud heaven this isn't. Indeed, some days the machines don't work at all, meaning you're stuck with Cuba's well-tested canned staples, Cristal and Bucanero.
Notwithstanding, with its shiny beer vats and live-music stage, the huge interior of this place recalls the ambience (if not the complex flavors) of an Oktoberfest beer tent. And while service can be dismally slow, the prices – CUC$2 for a half liter, CUC$12 for a 3L theatrical beer tower – should take the sting out of the wait.
